The superstar helped pop quintet Fifth Harmony rocket to No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 on Wednesday (Feb. 4), when she tweeted an appreciation of the group’s song “Like Mariah.” Carey’s approval didn’t slip under the radar: Hours later, two of the group’s members, Normani Kordei and Ally Brooke Hernandez, responded separately to the tweet, expressing their gratitude for the acknowledgment.
@MariahCarey it’s such an honor to be recognized by my idol ? thank you so much for inspiring me through music #LoveYouMiMi #LikeMariah (;

The track, which features Tyga, finds the quintet reveling in ecstasy, crooning, “When you touch my body/ Got me singing like Mariah.” In addition to the call-out of Carey’s “Touch My Body,” the tune’s chorus samples one of the diva’s most enduring hits, “Always Be My Baby.” Both “Body” and “Baby” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming two of Carey’s 18 leaders on the list, the most among solo artists.
“Mariah” (and Mariah) help Fifth Harmony score a hat trick of Trending 140 chart leaders from their debut album, Reflection, following the reigns of “Bo$$” and “Sledgehammer” in 2014. Reflection was released Jan. 30.
