Mariah Carey on ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ Hitting Hot 100’s Top 10: ‘It Truly Warms My Heart’

As previously reported, Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” ascends to the Billboard Hot 100‘s top 10 for the first time. The song dashes from No. 11 to No. 9 on the chart dated Dec. 30, as the modern holiday classic reaches the Hot 100’s top 10 at last, over 23 years after its 1994 release.

“This is such an amazing Christmas gift!,” Carey tells Billboard exclusively.

“As a songwriter, I feel so honored to have this song reach Billboard’s [Hot 100] top 10 for the first time. I honestly never thought we’d be talking about this happening, but I’m so thankful to everyone who embraces this song as part of their holiday tradition.

“It truly warms my heart, and I am proud of this song that I wrote basically as a kid on my little Casio keyboard.”

Among other feats, the song marks Carey’s 28th Hot 100 top 10, tying her with Stevie Wonder for the fifth-most top 10s in the tally’s 59-year history.
