Marco Antonio Solis Goes Indie With Upcoming Live Album: Exclusive
Latin superstar Marco Antonio Solís' "Por Amor a Morelia" (For Love to Morelia) will be distributed via indie Select-O-Hits.

Latin superstar Marco Antonio Solís, a storied singer/songwriter who holds the record for most No. 1 albums on Billboard’s Top Latin charts (11) is releasing his upcoming album independently.
Por Amor a Morelia (For Love to Morelia), a live CD/DVD recorded during a Solís concert in his birth city of Morelia, in the Mexican state of Michoacán, will be distributed via indie Select-O-Hits. A first single, the medley “Mi Mayor Necesidad / A Donde Vayas,” will be available on iTunes March 17.

Solís was long signed to Fonovisa — the leading Latin indie at the time — since his days with romantic regional Mexican group Los Bukis in the 1980s, and later, when he branched out as a soloist in 1996. He remained with Fonovisa when it was acquired by Univision and later, Universal. In 2013, Solís renewed his contract with Universal, this time through Universal Music Latino.
With that contract up, Solís is releasing his live album as a free agent.
The Por Amor a Morelia concert took place at the bullring in Morelia and is slated for release in May.
Solís is in the midst of his Gracias Por Estar Aquí (Thanks for Being Here) tour, named after his last studio album, which has taken him through Colombia, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, among other countries. He is slated to play 12 more dates in Mexico, beginning March 28.
