Marc Anthony earns a slot among this week’s highest-grossing touring artists (see Hot Tours list below) with his first headlining performance ever in the U.K. The Grammy Award-winning artist made his debut at London’s famed O2 Arena on July 10, the final stop on a brief tour through seven European cities during the summer. Ticket sales topped $1 million for the performance that was attended by 9,995 fans.
Anthony kicked off the trek in Paris with a June 25 performance at Le Zénith, the city’s 6,200-seat indoor concert venue. Four shows in Spain and a performance in Italy followed before the European jaunt ended at the O2.
Also among the artists performing at the O2 Arena this summer were veteran pop stars Lionel Richie and Barry Manilow, who both land on Billboard’s weekly touring tally based on ticket sales at the London venue. Richie’s three-night stand on July 2, 3 and 6, promoted by Marshall Arts, took in $3.6 million in revenue from 42,942 sold seats. Manilow played to a crowd of 11,096 at his June 23 concert with grosses totaling just over $1 million. The event, part of his One Last Time Tour, was the final stop on a seven-city trek through the U.K. during June.
Leading the pack of touring artists on this week’s top 10 is Kenny Chesney, who racked up $3.7 million in box office sales from one stadium performance at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field. With a crowd of 48,195 in attendance, the country superstar’s Spread the Love Tour played the home venue of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks with support from Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt and Old Dominion. The concert on July 23 was his sixth headlining stint at the stadium. His first show was a decade ago, June 24, 2006, during The Road & The Radio Tour.
Chesney is entering the final month of his 2016 tour that will include stadium events in the San Francisco, Detroit and New York markets before wrapping on Aug. 26 and 27 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
