Major Lazer, Justin Bieber & MO Top Pop Songs Airplay Chart With ‘Cold Water’

"Cold Water" is Major Lazer & MO's second No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart & Bieber's fourth.

Major Lazer‘s “Cold Water,” featuring Justin Bieber and MO, rises to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Pop Songs radio airplay chart (dated Oct. 1).

The song is Major Lazer and MO’s second Pop Songs leader apiece, as the acts teamed up (with DJ Snake) for “Lean On,” which topped the Pop Songs chart dated exactly a year ago today (Sept. 19, 2015).

Bieber scores his fourth Pop Songs No. 1 and first in a featured role. He earned his first three toppers, all in the past year, from his album Purpose: “What Do You Mean?” (two weeks, October 2015), “Sorry” (three, January) and “Love Yourself” (five, February and March).

“Water” rises to the top of Pop Songs with an 8 percent gain in plays (among the 170 reporters to the chart), according to Nielsen Music. WZMP Philadelphia and WPOI Tampa, Florida, led with 133 plays each for the song in the week ending Sept. 18.

As previously reported, “Water” led the Sept. 24 Dance Club Songs chart, marking the first No. 1 on the survey for Major Lazer and MO and the fourth for Bieber.

While an official lyric video was released for “Water” on July 21, a new “dance video” for the song arrived Sept. 15. The new clip could help the song’s fortunes going forward on the airplay, sales and streaming-based Billboard Hot 100, where “Water” has so far reached No. 2.
