Luis Fonsi’s “Calypso” enters the Latin Airplay chart top 10 as the song flies 11-5 (chart dated Sept. 8). The rise of the song which originally only featured Stefflon Don, was likely sparked by the remix of the song with Karol G which was released Aug. 17. The track zooms with a 25 percent increase in audience impressions (to 10.8 million) in week ending Sept. 2, according to Nielsen Music.
The lift earns Fonsi his 15th top 10 on the tally and second of the year. He previously landed at the summit with “Echame La Culpa” with Demi Lovato which reigned for one week (Jan. 20). For Karol G, it’s her second top 10, less than one month after her own hit “Mi Cama” crowned the list for one week (Aug. 25) thanks to the remix of the song with J Balvin and Nicky Jam that was released July 13.
Elsewhere, on the Hot Latin Songs chart, which blends airplay, digital sales, and streams data, “Calypso” ascends 21-19 mostly on the strength of both airplay and streams, logging 1.78 million in U.S. streams (up 34 percent) in the week ending Aug. 30.
The song, the second single from his seventh studio album Comeré Callado, Vol. 2, released April 27, zooms 16-9 with 9.5 million in audience impressions (up 13 pecent). Ortiz notches his 12th top 10. He last visited the top tier in 2017 when “Para Que Lastimarme” jumped 13-10 (chart dated July 8, 2017).
“Egoista” also rises on the Regional Mexican Songs airplay tally, ascending 4-2; the closest he’s been to the top in over a year. He last led the chart with “Regresa Hermosa” which ruled for two weeks on the Jan. 14, 2017-dated chart.
