Lucy Dickins Joins WME to Head UK Music Team

WME has hired Lucy Dickins to run its U.K. music division, bringing along a powerhouse roster of clients to the Endeavor-owned agency including Adele, Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling, James Blake and Mabel.
Adele had been represented by WME’s Kirk Sommer in North America while Adam Voith repped Mumford and Sons, but Dickins decision to exit International Talent Booking, which was founded by her father Barry Dickins and his partner Rod MacSween in 1978, means WME will now manage the superstar artists global bookings. At ITB, Dickins also worked with Hot Chip, Bryan Ferry, Rex Orange County, Jamie T, Jack Peñate, according to a press release from WME, explaining “all of whom are expected to join her at WME.”
WME’s head of music Marc Geiger described Dickins as “a star player,” with unmatched “pedigree, taste, and respect in our industry.”
“After being in business with her family for so many years, we feel fortunate that she decided to join WME, and we look forward to bringing her perspective to our clients and colleagues,” Geiger said in a statement.
Dickins’ first job in music was at a small independent record label before joining the family business at ITB in the early 1990s, according to her bio, where she helped Jamie T form the Panic Prevention club night series at the 12 Bar London where she met future clients like Adele and Mumford and Sons.
“Growing up in this business, I’ve been lucky to learn from the best, but now is the time for me to take the next step in my career. The opportunity to join WME was hugely exciting, and I’m confident that this relationship can grow into something special,” said Dickins in a press release.
Dickins’ lineage in music goes back to her grandfather Percy Dickins, who created the weekly New Music Express (NME) magazine and its Top 20, which became the defacto albums chart in the U.K. starting in the 1980s. Dickins’ father Barry’s client listed inlcuded Bob Dylan and Neil Young and her uncle Rob Dickins served as head of Warner Brothers. Her brother Jonathan Dickins is chief executive of September Management and manages the careers of Adele, London Grammar, Rex Orange County, producer Rick Rubin and XL Recordings founder Richard Russell.
The hire is a major addition to the WME UK office, which “booked more shows at the O2 than any agency, in addition to leading European festival bookings,” according to a press release.
