Louis Tomlinson is not expected to face criminal charges in an incident at Los Angeles International Airport last month.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, Tomlinson and the paparazzo with whom he was involved in a scuffle will be interviewed and advised on how to avoid similar situations in the future. Typically, in such events, there is no further action taken by the City Attorney’s Office.
Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office spokesman Frank Mateljan told Billboard, “Following a complete review, the office has decided to set the matter for a City Attorney Office hearing. All parties involved will be sent a letter today setting a hearing date at the end of the month. Each of the parties will be interviewed regarding the incident and advised of the law and ways to avoid similar incidences in the future. Typically there is no further action taken by our office after the hearing, though we do reserve the right to file charges up to one year from the date of the original incident should additional information or future actions require additional measures.”
On March 3, the 25-year-old One Direction member had just arrived at LAX with his girlfriend Eleanor Calder following a trip to Las Vegas when they were surrounded by paparazzi at baggage claim. Tomlinson allegedly pulled one of the photographers by his legs, resulting in the man hitting his head and on the ground.
The singer was placed under citizen arrest by airport security until police arrived. He was then taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department and charged with simple battery before being released the following morning on $20,000 bail.
