Universal Music Publishing Group has signed Logic to an exclusive worldwide administration deal, the company announced Tuesday (May 21).
The news follows a fruitful few weeks for the rapper and Def Jam signee, whose latest project, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, debuted atop the Billboard 200 last week — marking his third No. 1 album. And in April, he became the first rapper to be a New York Times No. 1 bestselling author when he saw his debut novel Supermarket crown the Paperback Fiction list.
“Logic is a supremely creative artist and songwriter with a tremendous work ethic,” said David Gray, Universal Music Publishing Group executive vp and head of West Coast A&R. “From his earliest days creating mixtapes, he’s grown into a superstar who has conquered writing, rapping, singing, producing and beyond. Logic is at the top of his game and only going up. The UMPG team looks forward to delivering outstanding opportunities in support of his incredible music.”
This fall, Logic will hit the road for his The Confessions of a Dangerous Mind Tour in North America, visiting 26 cities including Portland, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Toronto, Brooklyn and Chicago.
“I’m truly excited to begin my new creative partnership with UMPG,” Logic adds. “My conversations with Jody Gerson, David Gray, and those who I have met thus far have been inspiring and I know they will be a fantastic help to bringing my creative visions to life.”
