Logic Heading for No. 1 Debut on Billboard 200 Albums Chart, With Chris Stapleton Close Behind

Rapper Logic is heading for his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as industry forecasters suggest that his new album Everybody could bow atop the list dated May 27. Sources suggest the set could earn around 210,000 equivalent album units in the week ending May 11. The week’s second biggest bow will come from Chris Stapleton’s From a Room: Volume 1, which may earn perhaps 200,000 units and start at No. 2 on the list.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new May 27-dated Billboard 200 chart is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, May 14.

Currently, Logic has the edge for No. 1 over Stapleton on next week’s chart. However, there are four tracking days left in the week, so anything is possible.

Logic has previously earned two top 10 albums: The Incredible True Story (No. 3 in 2015) and Under Pressure (No. 4 in 2014). Logic’s new album has already launched three entries on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart: “Everybody”; “Black Spiderman,” featuring Damian Lemar Hudson; and “1-800-273-8255,” featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid.

As for Stapleton, his new effort follows the chart-topping success of the singer/songwriter’s debut solo album Traveller, which spent two weeks at No. 1 in 2015. The album has sold 1.9 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. The new album was led by the single “Broken Halos,” which has so far reached No. 13 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

With Logic and Stapleton eyeing the Nos. 1 and 2 slots on next week’s chart, it seems that Kendrick Lamar’s current leader, DAMN., will slip to the No. 3 position after three weeks atop the list.
