Live Nation Cements Merger With Indie Promoter Metropolis Music

The London-based company will continue to trade as Metropolis Music with Bob Angus staying on as chairman and Raye Cosbert as managing director. Existing employees Andy Robbins, Kiarn Eslami and Tony Dobson will continue to look after artist bookings, with Sophie Pitchforth remaining executive booking coordinator and Ronnie Lee production coordinator. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“The formation of Metropolis Music is a great venture for us, and another step in our commitment to promotions and world-class events in the U.K.,” said Denis Desmond, chairman of Live Nation UK, announcing the deal.
He went on to say that the merger would bolster Metropolis’ “existing promotions expertise with Live Nation’s established frameworks, relationships, and a team of experts to grow the business together.”
Commenting on the new venture, Metropolis founder Bob Angus said he was excited about integrating the business into the Live Nation stable and was looking “forward to providing the best for artists and fans across the U.K, together as part of the Live Nation family.”
Established in 1985, Metropolis is a stakeholder in V Festival and Academy Music Group (AMG), alongside Live Nation. The company currently promotes around 500 shows per year and includes Robbie Williams, Eminem, Coldplay, Years and Years, Charli XCX, Noel Gallagher, Lily Allen and Gavin DeGraw among its clients.
In 2000, Metropolis launched its own management division, headed by Raye Cosbert, who represented Amy Winehouse. Its current management roster includes Alex Clare, Claudia Kane and Purple Ferdinand and will continue to operate as a separate independent company, outside of Live Nation.
