Little Big Town Leaps Onto Top Country Albums
The harmony-focused foursome claims its fourth top 10, as "Pain Killer" bows at No. 3. Plus, moves for Keith Urban, Billy Currington, RaeLynn & Carrie Underwood.

Harmony-focused foursome Little Big Town claims its fourth top 10, all tallied consecutively, on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, as its sixth studio set, Pain Killer, bows at No. 3 with 42,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The new release follows a pair of No. 1 debuts on Top Country Albums: Tornado (2012) and The Reason Why (2010). The band first reached the top 10 with A Place to Land, which debuted and peaked at No. 10 in 2007.
On the sales/airplay/streaming-based Hot Country Songs chart, “Day Drinking,” the new set’s lead single, becomes the group’s sixth top 10 (13-7). The act had last visited the upper tier with “Tornado,” which peaked at No. 6 in March 2013. It followed the quartet’s lone No. 1, “Pontoon,” which led for two weeks in September 2012.
URBAN, CURRINGTON CLIMB: Also new to the Hot Country Songs top 10 is Keith Urban‘s “Somewhere in My Car” (11-9). The song becomes his 32nd top 10.
Meanwhile, Billy Currington achieves his highest Hot Country Songs debut, as “Don’t It” starts at No. 38. It bests his previous highest entrance, set when Shania Twain‘s “Party for Two,” on which he’s featured, opened at No. 39 in 2004. As a lead artist, Currington also claims his best beginning, outperforming the No. 46 bow of “Let Me Down Easy” (2010). The new track, which also bows at No. 15 on Country Digital Songs with 17,000 downloads sold, previews Currington’s forthcoming sixth studio album, for which no title or release date has yet been announced.
NEW ‘GIRLS’: RaeLynn‘s “God Made Girls” reaches the highest rank (32-22) for a solo female artist’s debut (counting only radio-promoted singles) in eight months on the Country Airplay chart. The last such song to rank as high: Danielle’s Bradbery‘s “The Heart of Dixie,” which peaked at No. 12 on March 1. Bradbery won the fourth season of NBC’s The Voice.
Maddie & Tae First Female Duo in Country Airplay Top 10 Since 2007
A second-season contestant on The Voice, RaeLynn (real name: Racheal Lynn Woodward) is a 20-year-old Baytown, Texas, native. She’s expected to release her first full-length album before the end of the year.
‘WATER’ CROSSING: As Carrie Underwood‘s “Something in the Water” bullets at No. 6 in its fifth week on Hot Country Songs, it debuts at No. 42 on the Christian Airplay tally. With 661,000 audience impressions (up 41 percent) at the format, “Water” marks Underwood’s third charted title on the list. She peaked at No. 4 eight years ago with “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and followed with a No. 34 peak for “Temporary Home” in 2010.
On the multi-metric Hot Christian Songs chart, “Water” logs a fourth week at No. 1, adding Airplay Gainer honors on the survey. It leads Christian Streaming Songs (and ranks at No. 8 on Country Streaming Songs) with 969,000 U.S. streams, according to Nielsen BDS.
