Ever wanted to recreate your favorite artist’s style but it deemed too difficult to find their typically one-of-a-kind items? Thanks to Grailed, that dream outfit could possibly be yours.
The digital shopping platform has previously teamed with Future, G-Eazy, and Pusha T for “closet sale” collaborations, where the rappers lend some of their most coveted items in their wardrobe. Today (Feb. 24), Grailed has officially announced its latest partnership with Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty. And naturally, it’s titled “Yacht Week.”
“As with most of our partnerships, we curated this selection based on Lil Yachty’s style journey,” Grailed CEO Arun Gupta, exclusively tells Billboard. “We wanted the project to illustrate his fashion evolution as we trace his look from emergence to stardom.”
It marks the platform’s most expensive collaboration to date, worth over $300K. The items include around 750 pieces of clothing (with brands ranging from Supreme to Raf Simons), accessories, footwear, toys, memorabilia, jewelry (like a diamond Jesus pendant worth $65K) and more.
Representatives from Grailed spent around 13 hours in Lil Yachty’s home to curate items that hold the most significant that he wanted to share with fans. “You can see the discoloration on it,” he tells Billboard of a classic, crisp white Yves Saint Laurent button-down piece. “[It is] one of my first designer shirts that I bought; I was so happy.”
Gupta, who played a part in choosing the rapper for the collaboration, continues: “As someone who approaches style with an appreciation for mixing genres, eras and influences, Lil Yachty — like Grailed — is a proponent of individuality.”
The collection’s preview runs from Feb. 24-28, where customers and loyal fans have a chance to win some of the items. The sale officially kicks off on March 2 with three drops every day for five days. The giveaway winner will be revealed on March 6.
