Waynesboro, Pennsylvania-based rapper Lil Skies makes a splash on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Jan. 20), as the rising SoundCloud star debuts his first two songs on the tally.
“Nowadays,” featuring Landon Cube, leads at No. 85, as the song earned 8.4 million U.S. streams (up 30 percent) and 3,000 downloads sold (up 16 percent) in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music. The cut concurrently climbs 40-33 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Lil Skies released the music video for “Nowadays” Dec. 17, and it has since rocketed to 24 million global views.
The 19-year-old also bows with “Red Roses,” likewise featuring Landon Cube, at No. 98. The track vaults 50-36 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. “Red Roses” boasts 7.5 million U.S. streams (up 39 percent) and 2,000 downloads sold.
Meanwhile, Lil Skies’ debut album Life of a Dark Rose arrives at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 with 17,000 equivalent album units. The set also opens at No. 13 on the Top Rap Albums chart and No. 16 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
