Lil Pump has now re-upped with Warner Bros. Records, after he and his camp voided their original contact with the label in January on grounds he was underage when he signed the deal and it was never certified by the court.
The new deal includes the first album and a wide variety of rights, sources tell Billboard, adding that all told the advance comes to around $8 million. The ratification documents were filed Monday (March 12).
Pump was only 16 when he signed his first contract with Warner and went on to release his breakout single “Gucci Gang” with the label last year. But earlier this year, attorney John Branca issued a notice pointing out the age and certification issue, asserting that it nullified the deal. (Labels typically seek court approval to validate agreements with minors and will then renegotiate those deals when the artist becomes an adult, to be on safe legal footing.)
Following, Pump was the subject of great interest in the industry, as Branca and Tha Lights Global attorney Todd Rubenstein fielded offers from other labels. Among the two other majors — as well as a handful of indies — seeking to sign Pump were DJ Khaled‘s We The Best Music and Gucci Mane‘s 1017 Records, with sources telling Billboard in January they expected the now-17-year-old MC to sign with the highest bidder.
Reps for Pump and Warner Bros. declined to comment.
