Divinely Uninspired… has combined units for the week of 29,000, according to the Official Charts Company, to restrict Skepta to a No. 2 debut with his fifth album Ignorance Is Bliss (Boy Better Know). The grime MC hit the same peak with his 2016 Mercury Prize winner Konnichiwa.
Richard Hawley’s eighth set Further (BMG) is new at No. 3, matching the career best of his 2012 release Standing At The Sky’s Edge. Billie Eilish falls 2-4 with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Interscope/Universal) and Susan Boyle’s Ten compilation (Syco Music/Sony) comes in at No. 5.
Chase & Status make a No. 12 start with Rtrn II Jungle (Virgin/Universal) and Now 100 Hits — Forgotten 80 (Sony Music CG/Virgin EMI/Universal) is a new entry at No. 1 on the compilations chart.
Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber start their fourth week at the singles summit with “I Don’t Care” (Asylum/Warner Music), but the overriding and historic news is that the entire top ten of the singles countdown is unchanged, for the first time in history.
“I Don’t Care” stays ahead of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” (Lil Nas X/Sony), which after two weeks at No. 1 has now logged six in a row at No. 2. Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved,” Stormzy‘s “Vossi Bop” (Merky) and Eilish’s “Bad Guy” are all unmoved in positions 3-5, as are all the singles from 6-10. Such a logjam has never happened before in the chart’s history of more than 66 and a half years. The highest new entry of the week is Katy Perry‘s “Never Really Over” (Virgin/Universal), at No. 13.
