Leon Bridges leads THR’s Top TV Songs chart, compiled in conjunction with Tunefind and Shazam, for February, with his 2015 song “River,” thanks to the song’s appearance in HBO’s Big Little Lies.

Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending respective Shazam tags, as well as sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music during the corresponding period. “River” was featured in the second episode of Big Little Lies’ on Feb. 26 and leads all songs with 65,000 Shazam tags, 15,000 downloads sold and 1.4 million U.S. streams in February, according to Nielsen Music.


The song was featured on Bridges’ first studio album Coming Home, which reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in 2015 (chart dated July 11). The album returned to the list following the Big Little Lies exposure, re-entering the tally at No. 98 on the March 18-dated chart, after nearly a year off the list (it was last on the chart way back on April 2, 2016).

Though the song had never previously appeared on a Billboard chart, the show’s exposure helped the song debut on the Hot R&B Songs chart dated March 18 at No. 17. The song currently stands at No. 24 on the chart (dated March 25).

Elsewhere on the Top TV Songs chart, singer-songwriter Kiiara debuts at No. 2 with her former Billboard Hot 100 hit “Gold” after being featured in The CW’s Riverdale (Feb. 9). The track earns its spot on the strength of 44,000 Shazam tags, 10,000 downloads sold and 8.9 million U.S. streams in February, according to Nielsen Music. The song appears on Kiiara’s first EP Low Kii Savage and reached No. 13 on the Hot 100 (chart dated Oct. 22).


Finally, alternative rock group Cage the Elephant debuts at No. 4 on the chart with “Trouble” after its appearance in Riverdale’s second episode on Feb. 2. The song earns its placement with 39,000 Shazam tags, 6,000 downloads sold and 3.1 million U.S. streams in February, according to Nielsen Music. “Trouble” had a successful run on Billboard’s rock charts.

The track was one of only 10 songs to reach the Alternative Songs, Mainstream Rock Songs and Adult Alternative Songs charts in 2016. The song also reached No. 12 on the Hot Rock Songs chart dated Oct. 29.
