Lauren Daigle‘s “You Say” leads Billboard‘s streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Christian Songs chart for a 27th week (on the list dated Feb. 2), passing Carrie Underwood’s 2014 hit “Something in the Water” for the longest reign by a woman in the survey’s 15-year history.
Co-penned by Daigle, “You Say” is in third place overall, behind Hillsong United’s “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” (61 weeks at No. 1 starting in December 2013) and sister act Hillsong Worship’s “What a Beautiful Name” (37 frames beginning in February 2017). Both of those hits are also sung by women: “Oceans,” by Taya Smith, and “Name,” by Brooke Ligertwood. Carrie Underwood’s 2014 hit “Something in the Water” is fourth overall with 26 weeks atop the tally.

“You Say” rules Christian Digital Song Sales for a 25th week (13,000 sold, up less than 1 percent, according to Nielsen Music) and Christian Streaming Songs for a 23rd frame (7 million U.S. streams, down 7 percent) and ranks at No. 8 on Christian Airplay after spending 17 weeks at the apex.
Daigle’s crossover hit also lifts 40-38 on Billboard’s Pop Songs airplay chart, while it bumps 8-7 on Adult Pop Songs and pushes 19-18 over on Adult Contemporary.
Plus, Christian alt-rock outfit Switchfoot banks its 10th top 10 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart, as the group’s new set, Native Tongue, soars onto the list at No. 2. In its opening week ending Jan. 24, Tongue earns 14,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 12,000 were sold through traditional sales.
For the San Diego-based Switchfoot, the 14-song Tongue is its first album since Where the Light Shines Through arrived at No. 1 on the July 30, 2016-dated chart with 27,000 sold.
Switchfoot has charted 15 albums on Top Christian Albums since 1999 with six No. 1 sets. Its first leader, The Beautiful Letdown, ruled for 38 weeks in 2004-05, fueled by the top 20 Billboard Hot 100 crossover hits “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move.”
Also, on Top Gospel Albums, Wow Gospel 2019, the 22nd edition of the annual compilation series (begun in 1998), opens at No. 1 with 2,000 units, all in pure sales.
Of the 22 WOW gospel albums, 20 (all consecutively since 2000) have hit the summit; 2006’s brought the best starting sales sum: 43,000.
The new version of WOW includes gospel music stalwarts such as: Fred Hammond, Jekalyn Carr, Tamela Mann, Koryn Hawthorne among others.
