Lauren Daigle’s ‘You Say’ Was the Most-Shazamed Performance at 2019 Billboard Music Awards
Daigle's 17-week Christian Airplay No. 1 beat out the Jonas Brothers' three-song medley.
Lauren Daigle’s “You Say” seems to have found quite the audience at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, becoming the most Shazamed performance at the Wednesday ceremony, according to Shazam.
The Christian pop track, which earlier this year crossed over to pop and adult pop radio after a monumental 17-week run atop Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart, received more Shazam tags than any other performance at the BBMAs.
According to Shazam, “You Say” accounted for 25% of all Shazams taken of performances during the NBC broadcast.
Impressively, “You Say” beats out the cumulative Shazams for the three songs performed by the Jonas Brothers, which ranks as the second-most-Shazamed set on the broadcast. The reunited trio tore through a medley of its own “Sucker” (a one-week No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March) alongside Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” and DNCE’s “Cake By the Ocean.”
Dan + Shay and Tori Kelly’s duet of the former’s nine-week Hot Country Songs No. 1 “Speechless” was the third-most-Shazamed performance, with Khalid’s “Talk” at No. 4.
Mariah Carey’s medley of tunes performed in celebration of her selection as the evening’s Icon Award recipient rounded out the top five.
