The tale of a late-night (“quarter after 1,” to be specific) call to an ex was co-written by the trio’s members — Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood — with Josh Kear and released as the launch single from the group’s same-named album, which ruled the Top Country Albums list for 31 weeks and the all-genre Billboard 200 for four.
“Need You Now” also crossed over, becoming the act’s biggest pop hit to date, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and dominating the Adult Contemporary chart for 15 weeks. It subsequently won song and record of the year at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards in 2011.
After a break for individual projects, Lady A returned in June with its seventh full-length, Heart Break, which opened at No. 1 on the July 1 Top Country Albums chart. The album has generated two singles so far: “You Look Good,” which reached No. 8 on Hot Country Songs in July, and the current single, the set’s title track.
