Five years after its first No. 1 on Billboard's Latin Airplay chart, La Adictiva Banda San José de Mesillas snags its second leader, as "Escondidos" hikes 6-1 on the survey dated Jan. 18.

Five years after its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, La Adictiva Banda San José de Mesillas snags its second leader, as “Escondidos” hikes 6-1 on the survey dated Jan. 18.

The Horacio Palencia-written single, released Oct. 4, 2019, via Anval Music, climbs to the top of the tally despite a 7% decline in audience impressions (down to 7.86 million from 8.4 million the previous week) earned in the week ending Jan. 12, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

“Grateful to our team, media, and fans for believing in us,” La Adictiva tells Billboard. “We always aim to provide the best because we are here because of them.”

“Escondidos” follows the Sinaloans’ first No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, which arrived in December 2015 as “Después de Ti Quien” led the list in its 12th week. Since then, La Adictiva has placed five titles in the list’s top 10 (nine overall since its first chart entry in 2011).

The brass banda becomes the first regional Mexican band to secure a No. 1 in 2020, as Alejandro Fernández claimed the crown for two weeks with “Caballero.”

The Guillermo “Memo” Garza-led band continues its domination on other Latin airplay charts: “Escondidos” remains steady at No. 1 for a fourth week on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. Meanwhile, it pushes on the Hot Latin Songs chart with a 26-19 climb mainly with a 25% boost in streams. (Hot Latin Songs ranks the most popular Latin songs of the week by blending airplay, streams and sales data.)
