Kobalt Music has entered into a worldwide agreement with Roddy Ricch. The exclusive deal gives the rapper-singer-songwriter-producer full administration of catalogue in addition to publishing, creative services and synch for all of his future works.
“Roddy’s versatility as an artist is one of a kind and allows him to successfully jump into any genre,” said Sam Taylor, Kobalt executive vp creative, in announcing the Ricch signing. “He’s incredible and fresh for the future of Kobalt.”
According to Nielsen Music, Ricch’s catalog of songs have accumulated 799 million on-demand audio and video streams in the U.S. while his albums have earned 398,000 equivalent album units. The artist scored No. 36 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with the 2018 mixtape Feed Tha Streets II. He has also landed five entries on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, including the No. 11-peaking “Racks in the Middle” (Nipsey Hussle featuring Ricch and Hit-Boy).
Ricch launched his career with the 2017 mixtape Feed Tha Streets, followed by the EP Be 4 Tha Fame. He has also appeared on tracks by Meek Mill (“Splash Warning,” also featuring Future and Young Thug) and Marshmello (“Project Dreams”).
“I respect everything Kobalt’s been doing with the artists they’ve signed,” said Ricch. “Most importantly, I felt like they had a genuine interest and support of me as an artist and my vision, which made the decision easy.”
Between now and the rest of 2019, Ricch is presently playing U.S. shows and festivals. Performance updates are available via his website.
