The Killers’ Catalog Acquired in Eldridge’s First Music Publishing Deal

Eldridge has acquired The Killers‘ song catalog for everything pre-2020, including “Mr. Brightside,” “Human,” “When You Were Young” and more. While Eldridge owns a wide spectrum of intellectual property assets, this marks its first foray into music publishing — a space where the company has been reviewing a number of deals over the past four years, sources tell Billboard. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal covers songs from The Killers’ first five albums, from 2004’s Hot Fuss to 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful. Besides the publishing rights, Eldridge also acquired the writers’ share too, while the band will continue to own its master recording royalties. The Killers song catalog will continue to be administered by the Universal Music Publishing Group.


The Killers have generated 10.8 million album consumption units worth of activity in the U.S., according to Nielsen/MRC Data, and according to the announcement, have sold 28 million albums worldwide. As part of the deal, the band will benefit from a partnership with Eldridge “leveraging its media expertise, industry relationships and distinct insights into emerging trends to serve the Killers’ existing fanbase” and help the band reach new audiences.

Eldridge, based in Greenwich, Connecticut, owns stakes in television and film production companies MRC, dick clark productions, A24 and Fulwell 23; as well as the Billboard-Hollywood Reporter Media Group, Rolling Stone and Variety; and the Los Angeles Dodgers and Spectrum SportsNet LA.

“We have the greatest fans in the world,” Killers lead singer Brandon Flowers said in a statement. “Eldridge’s broad network across music, television and film will provide new opportunities for our music to be enjoyed by millions across the globe.”


“The Killers have been an icon of American Music for nearly two decades,” Eldridge co-founder and president Tony Minella said in a statement. “As huge fans ourselves, we’re excited to partner with an incredibly talented band that has such an original sound, impactful lyrics, and the remarkable ability to connect generations through their music.”
