Rising artist Khea (real name: Ivo Alfredo Thomas Serue) has signed a deal with Interscope Records worldwide, Billboard can exclusively reveal.
With his raw lyrics about love, heartbreak and street life, the 19-year-old act is part of a fresh wave that’s putting the Argentine trap and hip-hop scene on the map. He first gained international recognition in 2017 with his sensual track “Loca” featuring Cazzu and Duki, which was then remixed by Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny. Khea has since unveiled a string of hits such as “Vete,” “Se Motiva” and “Como Le Digo,” and most recently teaming up with Blackbear for the remix of “Hot Girl Bummer.”
“Khea’s star-power is undeniable,” says Nir Seroussi, EVP of Interscope Records, via an official statement. “He brings an attitude and swag that our market hasn’t seen before. He’s got the potential to be a global disruptor.”
In the hype of his new venture, Khea will drop his latest production, coined “Donde Estas” (Where Are You?) on Tuesday (Jan. 28), marking his debut single under Interscope Records. The urban ballad, produced by The Honeyboo, meshes acoustic guitar riffs and a reggaeton-pop melody, shedding light on Khea’s sugary voice and versatility as an artist.
In addition to his infectious music, Khea has performed live at many renowned events, including Lollapalooza in both Chile and Argentina and Belgium’s Tomorrowland. This year, he is ready to continue making the rounds with his musical proposal, which includes a live performance at La Solar Festival in Colombia.
Last month, Electric Feel Management — the powerhouse responsible for Post Malone, Frank Dukes, Louis Bell and The Black Eyed Peas — welcomed Khea as a client and as the company’s first Latin act, in partnership with manager Austin Barmak.
