Kevo Muney is the newest member of Atlantic Records, Billboard learned on Thursday (Nov. 7). In addition to his label announcement, the Memphis-bred rapper also releases the street-inspired visual to “Everythang Changed” and shares that he’s got a project coming in December.
“First of all, I want to send a shout out to Atlantic Records for the partnership. So far it’s been amazing working with this team,” he says. As far as the clip goes, Muney turns what he’s seen around his city into a movie behind his AutoTuned warble. A duo from the 19-year-old’s crew get pinched following a couple armed robberies. Muney harps on how quickly life can change with one rash decision.
“‘Everythang Changed’ definitely applies to this new path and getting signed to a big label, but it’s also about me realizing how everything in life changes for the better or worse,” he continues. “I’m learning to embrace it no matter what and I want to bring people into the world of Kevo Muney.”
“Kevo is one of the hardest young artists coming out of Memphis,” says Lanre Gaba, GM/senior vp urban A&R for Atlantic Records. “Don’t know me” was the song that put him on our radar and once we heard the rest of his music, we knew he was a special talent. We are excited to welcome Kevo and GME to the Atlantic family.”
With co-signs from industry heavyweights like Gunna and Kevin Gates in his pocket, Kevo’s putting the finishing touches on his major label debut project Baby G.O.A.T., which is scheduled to release on Dec. 13. The mixtape also features guest appearances from fellow Memphis upstarts Tay Keith and Blocboy JB.
