Alternative hip-hop rapper/singer and Brockhampton member Kevin Abstract debuts at No. 4 on Billboard‘s Emerging Artists chart (dated May 11), as his sophomore LP Arizona Baby opens at No. 29 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with 12,000 equivalent album units earned, according to Nielsen Music.

Abstract first charted solo with his debut LP American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story, which hit No. 17 on Heatseekers Albums in 2016.

The new album, which was co-produced by Jack Antonoff, concurrently arrives at No. 24 on Top Rap Albums and No. 53 on the Billboard 200, marking Abstract’s first appearance on both charts.

The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard’s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.

City Girls log their fifth week at No. 1 on Emerging Artists, as their single “Act Up” holds at its No. 30 Hot 100 high in its ninth week.

Catfish and the Bottlemen debut at No. 10 on Emerging Artists, as their third LP The Balance arrives at No. 31 on Top Rock Albums (7,000 units). The set’s lead single “Longshot” concurrently reaches a new No. 4 high on the Alternative airplay chart, where it’s the band’s first top five hit.

Plus, singer-songwriter Kevin Morby enters Emerging Artists at No. 36, as his fifth LP Oh My God debuts at No. 5 on Heatseekers Albums (2,000 sold).
