Keith Urban will open the newly renovated Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Sept. 6 and 7 as part of his Graffiti U World Tour, Billboard can exclusively reveal.

“Caesars Entertainment could not be more excited to celebrate the relaunch of The Colosseum at Caesars Palace by welcoming Keith Urban to officially unveil many new and state-of-the-art enhancements that we have made to our award-winning venue,” says Jason Gastwirth, president of entertainment of Caesars Entertainment. “Keith is a remarkable musician, and the general admission area will provide our guests an exciting entertainment experience in the next chapter of The Colosseum.”

This has been a year of change for Las Vegas’ most iconic theater. First, it was announced in February that both Celine Dion and the venue’s exclusive management partner AEG would be leaving the building in June after a 17-year run. Then, in April, plans were revealed by Caesars Entertainment for a refresh and new promotional partnership with Live Nation.

At the renovated 4,300 seat theater, the new general admission area will accommodate 380 people. The Colosseum will also debut improved state-of-the-art sound and moving light fixtures along with a completely new high-definition LED video wall measuring 110 feet long and 34 feet tall with more than double the resolution of its predecessor. For other shows that do not utilize the general admission configuration, there is first-of-its-kind modular seating capability that will arise from the floor via an automated lift system as well as a VIP experience option with banquettes and bottle service. Because of this, no views will be obstructed by the general admission section.

Urban, a four-time Grammy award winner, is a multi-hyphenate artist and exactly the type of performer that Live Nation looks to book into its Las Vegas theaters like The Colosseum thanks to his mass cross-genre appeal and pop cultural recognition. The general admission area within The Colosseum will give fans a more up-close experience than what is possible in his Graffiti U arena performances. This will be his only Las Vegas stop for this tour, which has played more than 70 dates in seven countries.

“We knew we had to reopen a venue as iconic as The Colosseum in a big way. Keith Urban was the perfect choice,” says Amanda Moore, vp marketing for Live Nation Las Vegas. “Fans will have the opportunity to see one of the biggest names in music perform in an intimate setting for two nights only — an experience they can’t find anywhere else in the world.”

Prior to announcing its $17.3 billion merger agreement with El Dorado Resorts on June 24, Caesars Entertainment hosted more than 10,000 live events each year with 3 million tickets sold annually, operating more than 50 venues across 13 states and five countries. The two gaming companies expect the agreement to be finalized in the first half of 2020, which would make the new entity — which will retain the Caesars name — the largest owner and operator of U.S. gaming assets with 60 casino-resorts across 16 states.

Tickets for Keith Urban Graffiti U go on sale July 19, with more special engagements and residency shows to be announced soon.
