Another two K-pop acts are heading to Madison Square Garden this July for this year’s KCON New York — and one of them hasn’t even released their first album yet.
On Thursday (May 2), KCON USA announced that girl group IZ*ONE and boy band AB6IX will join other K-pop groups ATEEZ, EVERGLOW, NU’EST, SF9 and TXT at KCON New York this year. The East Coast leg of the bicoastal annual Korean pop culture convention and concert event will take place at Madison Square Garden and Manhattan’s Javits Center on July 6 and 7.
IZ*ONE is a 12-member act that was produced last year through the Korean reality television show Produce 48, and features both Korean and Japanese members pulled from the world of K-pop hopefuls and Japan’s AKB48 entity. The act made major waves with their debut single “La Vie En Rose” last October, and released their second single, continuing the flowery title trend with “Violeta” in April.
Meanwhile, AB6IX is also associated with the Produce series, as several of its five members appeared on the show’s second Produce 101 season in 2017. Two members, Woojin and Daehwi, were part of that season’s finalists, and were until recently members of temporary boy band Wanna One. Another two members, Youngmin and Donghyun, also appeared on the show and have promoted together under the name MXM. The group recently released a performance video of their song “Hollywood,” which they originally premiered during Produce 101, and are set to release their first official release in May.
Tickets for this year’s KCON New York concerts will go on sale on May 22 at 3 p.m. ET, while tickets for the convention will go on sale on May 24 at 3 p.m. ET.
