Kane Brown’s ‘Good’ Week Brings Fourth Country Airplay No. 1, Blake Shelton Surges In Streaming

Kane Brown‘s “Good as You” ascends 2-1 in its 21st week on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart (dated June 1), increasing by 6% to 39.9 million audience impressions in the week ending May 27, according to Nielsen Music.

On the airplay-, streaming- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart, “Good” lifts 5-3, reaching a new peak.  

“Good” is Brown’s fourth consecutive and total Country Airplay leader and completes his quickest trip to No. 1. He first led with “What Ifs,” featuring Lauren Alaina, on Oct. 28, 2017, in its 35th week, followed by “Heaven,” which took 28 weeks to reign on May 19, 2018, for its first of two weeks on top, and “Lose It,” which led the list dated Dec. 8 in its 26th week.

“Good” was written by Brown, Shy Carter, Brock Berryhill, Taylor Phillips and Will Weatherly.

“I am so grateful to my fans who have always been here for me,” Brown says. “I’m proud to share this with my co-writers and close friends. We never take these moments for granted.”

“Good” is the sophomore single, after “Lose It,” from Brown’s second full-length, Experiment, which debuted atop both the all-genre Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts dated Nov. 24, 2018, with 126,000 equivalent album units.


‘GOD’S’ IS GOOD Blake Shelton‘s “God’s Country” tops Hot Country Songs for a second week and becomes his first leader on the Country Streaming Songs chart.

“Country,” Shelton’s 14th Hot Country Songs No. 1 and first since “Sure Be Cool If You Did” in 2013, flies by 16% to 12.6 million U.S. streams in the week ending May 23. He performed the track on NBC’s Red Nose Day Special (May 23), a benefit to help eradicate child poverty.

“Country” tops Country Digital Song Sales for a seventh week (25,000 sold, down 2%). On Country Airplay, it bumps 10-8, up 11% to 26.2 million impressions.

LUKE BATS CLEAN UP Luke Combs’ debut LP This One’s For You logs its 36th week at No. 1 on Top Country Albums (25,000 equivalent album units, down 9%) and ties for the fourth-longest reign in the chart’s 55-year history with Dixie Chicks’ 1999 album Fly. It also breaks out of a tie for the most weeks at No. 1 for an album released this century, passing the 35-week commands of Taylor Swift’s Fearless (beginning in 2008) and the O Brother, Where Art Tho? soundtrack (2001).

The only titles with more time on top than This One’s for You and Fly among all sets: Shania Twain’s Come On Over (50 weeks, starting in 1997); Randy Travis’ Always & Forever (43 weeks, 1987); and Garth Brooks’ No Fences (41 weeks, 1990).

‘GIRL’ POWER Maren Morris’ “Girl” ascends to the Country Airplay top 10 (14-10), up 15% to 21 million impressions.

“Girl” marks Morris’ fifth Country Airplay top 10, a history that includes two No. 1s: Thomas Rhett’s “Craving You,” featuring Morris (July 2017) and “I Could Use a Love Song” (January 2018).

Morris joins Kelsea Ballerini, whose “Miss Me More” pushes 5-3 (29.8 million, up 6%) in the Country Airplay top 10, marking the first time that female artists have shared space in the region since Sept. 1, 2018, when Jason Aldean’s “Drowns the Whiskey,” featuring Miranda Lambert, led for a second week and Carrie Underwood’s “Cry Pretty” ranked at No. 9.

Ballerini and Morris combine for the first instance of two solo women unaccompanied by any co-billed acts charting simultaneously in the Country Airplay top 10 since they teamed up on Jan. 27, 2018, with “Legends” and “Love Song,” at Nos. 7 and 9, respectively.


LADY A’s BEST BOW Lady Antebellum‘s “What If I Never Get Over You” arrives at No. 15 on Hot Country Songs, marking the act’s best career start on the survey. It surpasses “Bartender,” which entered at No. 19 on June 7, 2014, and reached No. 4 that August.

“Never,” Lady A’s first single for BMLG, was released May 17. In its first full week of activity, it corralled 4 million streams and sold 21,000 downloads, the latter sum good for a No. 2 entrance on Country Digital Song Sales, where it’s the band’s 16th top 10.
