Justin Bieber Retains No. 1 Single in Australia, Lana Del Rey Tops Albums Chart

"Honeymoon" gives Del Rey her third successive No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean” (Def Jam/Island) enters its fourth week atop Australia’s singles chart while Lana Del Rey’s new set opens at the summit of the market’s albums list.

Honeymoon (Interscope) gives Del Rey her third successive No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, following Born To Die which reached the summit for a week in February 2012 and Ultraviolence which spent one chart cycle at the top in June 2014.

Del Rey’s fourth studio set holds off the challenge of David Gilmour’s Rattle That Lock (Columbia/Sony), the Pink Floyd great’s fourth solo album and his first in nearly a decade. The No. 2 bow for Rattle That Lock is the guitarist’s highest peak for a solo album — and only solo Top 10 — on these shores. Last week’s No. 1, Bring Me the Horizon’s That’s the Spirit (RCA/Sony), falls to No. 3.

Another notable new entry comes from Drake & Future with What A Time To Be Alive (Universal), which opens at No. 7 and gives Future his first chart appearance Down Under.  Meanwhile, Ryan Adams cover of Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Sony) has opened its account at No. 9, bettering his previous career best of No. 10, which he achieved last year with his self-titled 14th album.

Swift’s 1989 (Big Machine/Universal) currently sits four places higher, at No. 5, and has chalked up 5-times platinum certification in its 48 weeks on the chart. Swift’s latest release from that album, “Wildest Dreams,” is currently at its peak position of No. 3 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

Bieber’s “What Do You Mean” is the Canadian pop singer’s first single to top the Australian sales chart. The song is now platinum certified and there’s a good chance it’ll remain in its lofty position for some time yet considering Bieber is in the country this week for a promotional trip which will include a performance for X Factor Australia
