Atlantic Records Group chairman and COO Julie Greenwald has signed on to keynote the second annual “Music’s Leading Ladies Speak Out” session at the upcoming Music Biz 2017 conference in Nashville. The major label influencer — No. 15 on this year’s Billboard Power 100 — will discuss how she cracked a male-dominated business in an interview with NPR pop critic Ann Powers on Tuesday, May 16 at Music City’s Renaissance Nashville Hotel.
The event, sponsored by Nielsen Music, will kick off with a presentation from Nielsen Music senior vp Erin Crawford and explore this year’s theme of “Creative Partnerships.”
Greenwald’s Atlantic is coming off its biggest year since she and chairman/CEO Craig Kallman took over in 2004, led by acts like Coldplay, Kevin Gates and Twenty One Pilots.
“Julie is a true music industry innovator, and has always remained on top of the latest trends and taken advantage of technological advances to rebuild two of the most iconic brands in music: Atlantic Records and previously Island Records,” said James Donio, president of Music Biz (Music Business Association). “She is the perfect keynoter for Music’s Leading Ladies, which we are thrilled to bring back for a second year after the overwhelming response to our debut outing last year.”
Last year’s inaugural “Music’s Leading Ladies Speak Out” session featured Vivien Lewit of YouTube, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, and “Girl Crush” (Little Big Town) songwriters the Love Junkies.
