English soul singer/songwriter Joss Stone crowns Billboard‘s year-end Reggae Albums chart and Reggae Albums Artists chart thanks to the chart performance of her latest album — and first reggae offering — Water for Your Soul.
The year-end reggae charts are based solely on chart performance during the tracking year on the weekly Reggae Albums sales chart.
Water for Your Soul — which was released on Stone’s own label (Stone’d) through Kobalt and features collaborations with Damian Marley — spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the weekly Reggae Albums chart during the 2015 chart year. (The 2015 chart year began with the Dec. 6, 2014-dated lists and ended with the Nov. 28, 2015 charts.) Water for Your Soul is also Stone’s seventh album to chart on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, debuting and peaking at No. 6.
The weekly Reggae Albums chart ranks the top-selling current reggae albums in the U.S., based on weekly sales, according to Nielsen Music. (Current albums are those that are generally less than 18 months old and have charted below No. 100 on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart.)
Water for Your Soul is, so far, the biggest-selling current reggae album of 2015 (with 29,000 sold) and the second-largest overall. Among all reggae albums, Bob Marley and the Wailers’ greatest hits Legend album — a non-current, catalog title which was released in 1984 — has sold 191,000 in 2015.
