Jorge Drexler Signs Global Deal With Warner Chappell Music Spain

Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler has signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music Spain. 

Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler has signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music Spain.

“I’m delighted to be back with Warner Chappell Music,” Drexler said in a statement. “We’ve worked successfully together in the past and I know that Santi and the team will be great partners for the next stage of my career. I can’t wait to share my new music with the world and hope that it’ll be possible to go out on the road again soon.”

Set to release his 14th album later this year, the 57-year-old is a five-time Latin Grammy winner and an Academy Award-winning artist after his “Al Otro Lado del Río,” featured in the 2005 film The Motorcycle Diaries, won best original song. He’s penned songs for artists such as Rosario, Shakira and most recently rising Spanish artist C. Tangana.

Born in 1964, Drexler released released two albums in Uruguay in the early 1990s before getting his “big break” after Spanish songwriter Joaquin Sabina invited him to Madrid to collaborate with a wide range of artists.

Most recently, Drexler’s COVID-19-inspired “Codo Con Codo” was nominated for best song at the 21st annual Latin Grammys.
