Jorge Drexler has signed a new deal with Sony Music. The singer and songwriter officially joined the record company, which now will take care of his artistic career.
“I am thrilled and very excited about this new phase,” says Jorge Drexler on a press statement.
Jorge Drexler, who was previously signed under Warner Music Latina, is a singer-songwriter and actor from Uruguay who has been living in Spain for two decades. Drexler has been an Oscar winner for the best original song in 2004 with his theme “Al Otro Lado del Rio” (Across the river). During his career, Drexler has recorded 13 studio albums and is a Grammy and Latin Grammy winner.
“It is an honor to have with us an artist of his stature, winner of such universal Awards as the Oscar or the Latin Grammys,” said José María Barbat, president of Sony Music for Spain and Portugal. “Drexler is poetry and harmony, a certain and poignant song, a craftsman of universal emotions chiseled over three decades of trajectory.”
