Jhay Cortez and Anuel AA’s first collaborative offering, “Ley Seca,” lifts 4-1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart on the Feb. 5 ranking. The song is part of Cortez’s Timelezz album, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 on Top Latin Albums (Sept. 18, 2021-dated list). The set featured guest appearances by Skrillex, Buscabulla, and others.
“Ley Seca,” released on Universal Music Latino, flies to the chart’s summit in its 19th week on the list, and marks Cortez’s longest ascent to the top. His fastest climb arrived with “Fiel,” with Los Legendarios and Wisin, which took over atop the chart in its sixth week (June 12, 2021-dated list).
“Ley Seca” bounds with 9.7 million audience impressions, up 32%, earned in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 30, according to MRC Data. The double-digit percentage growth also secures the song greatest gain honor, awarded weekly to the title with the largest percentage gain among the chart’s 50 titles. New York’s WSKQ (1,705,000 impressions) and WXNY (999,400 impressions), as well as Philadelphia’s WEMG-AM (50,000 impressions) and Washington D.C.’s WLZL (39,800 impressions) are among the top stations giving the song the most audience in the tracking week.
It’s the second consecutive champ for Cortez among a collection of four No. 1s, following “Emojis de Corazones,” with Wisin and Ozuna, which also features los Legendarios (Jan. 8-dated list). Anuel captures his 10th No. 1, all through collaborative efforts except for “Keii” (one week atop in May 2020).
Over on Hot Latin Songs, which blends airplay, digital sales and streaming data, “Ley” comes close to its previous No. 12 high, jumping 17-13. It also benefits from a 2% gain in streams as it collected 1.7 million clicks in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 27.
“Ley’s” lead comes ahead of Cortez’s second leg Timelezz tour, which kicks off April 1.
