Blueprint Group (BPG) Records has announced the appointment of Jean Nelson as the label’s new president.
Blueprint Group Records is affiliated with Blueprint Group/Maverick management and currently has a distribution deal with RCA. Nelson has previously worked A&R on G-Eazy‘s debut studio album, These Things Happen, and oversaw A&R and served as executive producer on the rapper’s followup, When It’s Dark Out. He has also worked with A&R and management on projects for Rich the Kid, CyHi the Prince, Belly and more.
“Blueprint Group Records is based on a grassroots method of discovering new acts,” said Jean Nelson in a statement. “In the current landscape, great music can be overlooked, and what sets BPG Records apart is our strong focus on A&Ring. We’re dedicated to the growth of our expanding roster and take pride in fostering their careers overall and bringing their talent and art into the world in a strategic way to grow and expand their fan base. I am honored to be a part of the leadership at this great label and work amongst some of the best in the industry.”
Added Maverick partner Gee Roberson: “Jean has been instrumental at BPG Records from its inception. His A&R knowledge and instincts are incredible and I’m so excited for him to take on this role and continue to grow and develop BPG Records.”
The move follows a period of considerable growth at BPG Records, thanks in large part to the success of G-Eazy’s platinum-certified album The Beautiful & Damned, which was released last December and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart in partnership with The Revels Group.
