Jason Derulo’s ‘Mamacita’ Feat. Farruko Debuts at No. 1 on Latin Digital Song Sales Chart

Jason Derulo's "Mamacita," featuring Farruko, debuts at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart (dated July 20), becoming both acts' first leader on the list.

Jason Derulo‘s “Mamacita,” featuring Farruko, debuts at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart (dated July 20), becoming both acts’ first leader on the list.

“The song came from such an honest place, I wasn’t trying to make a hit or catch any trends,” Derulo tells Billboard. “I wanted to make a party song that had a Latin feel, when I got Farruko’s verse I felt like it was going to be fire!” The bilingual track, produced by Nuking Uffpop, starts with 3,000 downloads sold in the week ending July 11, according to Nielsen Music.

“I’m from Miami so Latin influence has been very prevalent in my life and that’s where the idea of the song came from and the partnership with Farruko,” Derulo adds. “I didn’t expect it to go No. 1, especially in the first week. I’m shocked, but I’m very thankful.”

“Mamacita” misses charting on the Hot Latin Songs chart (which blends sales, airplay and streaming data), as the track is just getting started with streams (850,000 in the week ending July 11) and garnered minimal airplay in the week ending July 14 (with just one reporting Latin station playing the song).

With the coronation, Derulo bests his first chart entry on Latin Digital Song Sales in both ranking and downloads: his featured turn on Sofia Reyes’ “1,2,3,” which also features De La Ghetto, debuted and peaked at No. 13 (March 2018; 2,000 downloads in its opening week.)

Farruko, meanwhile, scores his best debut week on the tally. “Baila Baila Baila” with Ozuna, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin and Anuel AA, reached No. 2 (May 11-dated chart; 2,000 recorded downloads in its first week).

Europe Meets The Caribbean: Five spots below, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta, Daddy Yankee, Afro Bros and Natti Natasha debut at No. 6 on the Latin Digital Songs Sales chart with “Instagram.” It’s the first visit to any Latin chart for the Belgian and Greek DJs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and the first appearance on any Billboard chart for Netherlander DJ duo Afro Bros.

“Instagram,” released July 5 via Smash The House/ Arista, debuts with a little over 1,000 downloads registered in the week ending July 11. The song also secures a spot on the Latin Rhythm Digital Song Sales list’s top 10, starting at No. 4.
