Jadakiss Scores No. 1 Return on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums

Rapper Jadakiss returns to No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (chart dated Dec. 12) as Top 5 Dead Or Alive arrives with 60,000 sold in the week ending Nov. 26, according to Nielsen Music. The entrance marks his third chart leader (as a solo act) and first crowning set since 2009 when his third studio album The Last Kiss bowed atop the tally.

As part of hip-hop trio The Lox, he also scored a No. 1 on the chart in 1998 with Money, Power, Respect, which spurred a top 10 hit on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with its title track.

While YouTube views supply most of the points causing its entrance (claiming 73 percent of its 2.9 million weekly streams), its wide release on Nov. 20 to services like Spotify and Rhapsody help the song to climb. “Best Friend’ simultaneously debuts at No. 98 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the rapper’s seventh charting hit.

Downloads cause the track to enter at No. 25 on Rap Digital Songs, with 9,000 sold.

Post Malone Posts Top 10: Lastly, rising rapper Post Malone slides into the top 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with his debut single “White Iverson,” marking his first top 10 on the list. The track steps 11-10 in its 15th week, with gains across airplay, sales and streaming. The song has its best streaming week yet, logging 5.7 million weekly clicks in the U.S. (up five percent). Spotify is the biggest contributor with 54 percent of overall streams. Digital sales also peak, rising five percent to 28,000 downloads.
