Hong Kong rapper/singer Jackson Wang re-enters Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated Nov. 9) at No. 1 to become the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time.

Hong Kong rapper/singer Jackson Wang re-enters Billboard‘s Emerging Artists chart (dated Nov. 9) at No. 1 to become the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time.
Wang, who is a member of the South Korean boy band GOT7, reigns on the strength of his debut solo album Mirrors, which arrives at No. 18 on the Top Rap Albums chart and No. 32 on the Billboard 200 with 14,00 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.
Wang concurrently ranks at No. 38 on the Social 50 chart (after reaching No. 16 in January).
The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard‘s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.
Meanwhile, Walk Off the Earth debuts at No. 2 on Emerging Artists, as the group’s fifth LP, Here We Go!, opens at No. 44 on the Billboard 200 (12,000 units), a new career-best for the Canadian band. The act’s Sing It All Away reached No. 71 in 2015 and R.E.V.O. hit No. 90 in 2013. Meanwhile, the new album’s “I’ll Be There” debuts at No. 37 on the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart.
Rounding out the Emerging Artists top five, NLE Choppa drops to No. 3 after seven total weeks on top, Tones and I dips 3-4, although the Australian artist’s breakthrough hit “Dance Monkey” darts 51-41 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Matt Stell drops 2-5.
