Jack White Hits Top 10 of Mainstream Rock Airplay for the First Time With ‘Taking Me Back’
White had never reached the top 10, solo or as part of a band.

Jack White ranks in the top 10 of Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart for the first time, solo or with any of his bands, as his own “Taking Me Back” ascends 11-9 on the Dec. 18-dated list.
White previously peaked highest on the survey as a soloist with the No. 25 hit “Lazaretto” in 2014.
As half of The White Stripes, he notched two top 20 entries: “Seven Nation Army” (No. 12, 2003) and “Icky Thump” (No. 11, 2007).
Meanwhile, he rose as high as No. 28 as a member of another group, The Raconteurs, with “Salute Your Solution” (2008).
Concurrently, “Back” bullets at its No. 3 best on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, up 6% to 3.9 million audience impressions in the Dec. 3-9 tracking week, according to MRC Data. The song holds at its No. 5 high on Alternative Airplay, marking White’s top solo rank and highest overall since “Solution” reached No. 4. It’s also up 22-20 on Adult Alternative Airplay.
“Back” is the lead single from Fear of the Dawn, the first of two White studio albums for 2022, due April 8.
