With their second K-pop release, IZ*ONE hit new chart highs as they continue to be a standout success on the world-genre charts following their creation on Korean singing-competition Produce 48.
IZ*ONE’s new album HEART*IZ debuts at No. 6 on Billboard‘s World Albums chart dated April 13, 2019. The position is a new peak for the girl group, following the No. 9 peak of their debut EP COLOR*IZ from November 2018, and also marks their best sales week in America. Meanwhile, HEART*IZ‘s lead single “Violeta” starts at No. 8 on the World Digital Song Sales chart giving the group their second Top 10 entry to date. IZ*ONE’s debut single “La Vie en Rose” peaked at No. 6 upon release.
With another pair of Top 10 entries on World Albums and Digital Song Sales with their sophomore release, IZ*ONE is on course to be a standout chart success when compared to the two other temporary-but-hugely popular groups created from Korea’s Produce series.
The girl group I.O.I, created from the first season titled Produce 101, failed to land any Top 10 entry on World Albums with only the single “Very Very Very” able to hit No. 4 on World Digital Song Sales. Furthermore the boy band Wanna One, created off the second season of Produce 101, earned three Top 10 entries on World Albums (hitting as high as No. 3 with their debut EP To Be One) and one Top 10 single (their No. 6-peaking, debut song “Energetic”). With a longer contract period of two-and-a-half years, compared to the one-year contract of I.O.I and Wanna One, the strong start on the charts only indicates big things coming for the third iteration of Produce winners.
