ITZY Make Social 50 Debut as the K-Pop Girl Group Announces Their ‘Icy’ Comeback

Billboard's Social 50 chart's lone debut belongs to ITZY at No. 21 this week.

ITZY made a big splash on the Billboard charts when the K-pop act’s debut single earned one of the highest-charting debuts ever for a K-pop group. Now, the promising girl group is making moves on the Social 50 chart ahead of their sophomore release.

Billboard‘s Social 50 chart’s lone debut belongs to ITZY at No. 21 this week. The girl group debuted in February 2019 with the single “Dalla Dalla” and is gearing up for the release of its debut EP, It’z Icy, on July 29. ITZY racked up 250,000 Twitter reactions in the tracking week ending July 12, much of them due to teaser images posted by the group announcing their return to the scene.

ITZY’s No. 21 start on the Social 50 makes them the second-highest charting girl group on this week’s tally (only behind BLACKPINK at No. 13 this week), as well as the 10th highest-charting K-pop act (coming ahead of the likes of bands like DAY6Pentagon and ATEEZ who are also in the midst of promoting new material).

Ahead of the release of their new single and EP, the group’s performance on the Social 50 only ups the high chart expectations they have for their impending comeback. When “Dalla Dalla” hit No. 2 on World Digital Song Sales chart, ITZY became just the fifth K-pop act to send their debut single to the No. 2 position or higher. Currently, only four K-pop acts have sent their debut single to No. 2 (with ITZY, NCT U, NCT 127 and NCT Dream) or No. 1 (which has only been accomplished by BLACKPINK and Tomorrow X Together so far).

Ahead of their “Icy” return later this July, get to know the girl group with their debut music video for “Dalla Dalla”:
