Executive Turntable: Interscope Names Urban Marketing Head, Songtradr Hires VP of Rights Management

A rundown of new hires and promotions across the music business, including at Interscope, Warner Music UK and Songtradr.

Interscope Records has promoted Laura Carter to senior vp/head of urban marketing at the label.

Carter joined Interscope in 2008 following an internship with producer Polow Da Don. Over the next 12 years, she rose through the executive ranks while working closely with J. Cole and his Dreamville Records, including the roster on the label’s Revenge of the Dreamers compilation franchise. She has also worked with Mustard’s 10 Summers label on releases from Mustard, R&B artist Ella Mai and emerging artist Ryan Trey.

“I’m thrilled to be able to continue to contribute to the success of our artists and label partners in a bigger, more collaborative way,” said Carter in a release. “I step into this role taking great pride in being trusted and empowered by John Janick, Joie Manda and Steve Berman to be a voice and leader for the marketing team.”



Warner Music UK has promoted Victor Aroldoss to senior vp, international marketing. Aroldoss, who will report to CEO Tony Harlow, was previously general manager, international marketing.

In his new role role, Aroldoss will lead international marketing strategies for Warner Music UK’s frontline labels, home to artists including Anne-Marie, Charli XCX and Dua Lipa. He will also be tasked with breaking emerging artists — including Ashnikko, Griff and JC Stewart — outside the U.K.

Since joining the company, Aroldoss has played a key role in the success of acts including Biffy Clyro, Clean Bandit, Ed Sheeran and Foals.



Music licensing marketplace Songtradr has named music technology veteran Virginie Berger as vp of rights management. The role will see Berger leading the company’s rights administration platform while managing relationships with PROs, CMOs and other industry leaders.

Prior to Songtradr, Berger was a founding venture partner at early-stage capital firm DBTH Capital (Right Tech) and a mentor at artist incubator The Rattle. She was previously the head of pan-European online licensing hub Armonia Online and co-founded the WeAreMusicTech initiative, which was designed to create a community around music/tech startups across the globe. Earlier in her career, she held roles at Microsoft, NRJ, and Myspace.



Greenway Records founder Harry Portnof is joining the revamped Reverberation Appreciation Society – label branch of the independent music festival and event organization Levitation (f.k.a. Austin Psych Fest) – as label head after the two labels signed a partnership deal. He will co-manage label operations with Levitation and Reverberation Appreciation Society founder Rob Fitzpatrick.

At Greenway Records, Portnof has developed the careers of garage/psychedelic artists including Acid Dad, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Levitation Room, LA Witch and Stonefield.

So far this year, The Reverberation Appreciation Society has released new records from Holy Wave and Ringo Deathstarr. Those will be followed by the forthcoming full-length album from Frankie and the Witch Fingers, which will be co-released by The Reverberation Appreciation Society and Greenway.



Los Angeles-based publicist Alexandra Greenberg has joined Le Bureau Export, the nonprofit professional organization that works to develop popular and classical music made in France on an international scale. Greenberg’s title is U.S. Consultant.

In her new role, Greenberg will work with the organization’s head of popular music, Louis Hallonet, serving as a guide to Le Bureau Export members who are looking to develop their musical projects in the U.S.

A music business veteran with over 20 years of experience, Greenberg previously worked at Red Ant Entertainment, People’s Revolution and MSO PR. In 2019, she formed her own company, Falcon Publicity.

He spent the last two years as StubHub head of music partnerships … Warner Music Nashville hired Chris Fabiani as Team WEA regional manager of radio and streaming, beginning July 13. He fills the role vacated when Shari Roth was promoted to national director. Fabiani spent the last two years as Universal Music Group Nashville director of promotion and artist engagement … Katie Bright started July 7 as Capitol Nashville director of Midwest regional promotion.
