The Year in Charts 2020: Interscope Geffen A&M Is Top Label of the Year

Interscope Geffen A&M (IGA) finishes 2020 as the Top Label on Billboard’s year-end charts for the first time since 2013.

Further, Interscope rules as the top Billboard Hot 100 Label, and IGA holds court as the top Billboard 200 Label.

In the last 25 years, Interscope is the only label group to sweep all three categories, having also been tops in 2007 (IGA was Top Label and Billboard 200 Label, Interscope was Hot 100 Label) and 2005 (Interscope led all three categories).

Billboard’s year-end Top Labels chart represents aggregated metrics for labels’ performance on the weekly Billboard 200 albums chart and the Hot 100 songs chart during the 2020 charts tracking year: Nov. 23, 2019, through Nov. 14, 2020-dated charts. Any activity registered before or after an album or song’s chart run isn’t considered in this ranking.

During the 2020 tracking year, IGA charted 68 albums on the Billboard 200 tally, including such power-performers like Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die (released via Grade A/Interscope/IGA), Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go? (Darkroom/Interscope/IGA), DaBaby’s Blame It On Baby (SouthCoast/Interscope/IGA), Summer Walker’s Over It (LVRN/Interscope/IGA) Juice WRLD’s Goodbye & Good Riddance (Grade A/Interscope/IGA) and DaBaby’s Kirk (SouthCoast/Interscope/IGA) – all of which finish among the top 20 titles on the year-end Billboard 200 Albums chart.

IGA also clocked 25 top 10-charting albums on the weekly Billboard 200 during the tracking year — the most of any label. Among those top 10 sets were six No. 1s: Selena Gomez’s Rare (Interscope/IGA), Eminem’s Music to Be Murdered By (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope/IGA), Blame It On Baby, Lady Gaga’s Chromatica (Streamline/Interscope/IGA), Legends Never Die and Machine Gun Kelly’s Tickets to My Downfall (EST19XX/Bad Boy/Interscope/IGA).

Over on the Hot 100 chart, Interscope landed 118 titles on the tally during the chart year. Among those hits: DaBaby’s “Rockstar,” featuring Roddy Ricch (SouthCoast/Interscope); Maroon 5’s “Memories” (222/Interscope); Billie Eilish’s “Everything I Wanted” (Darkroom/Interscope); Trevor Daniel’s “Falling” (Alamo/Interscope); Mustard and Roddy Ricch’s “Ballin’” (10 Summer/Interscope); Blackbear’s “Hot Girl Bummer” (Beartrap/Alamo/Interscope); Lil Mosey’s “Blueberry Faygo” (Mogul Vision/Interscope); DaBaby’s “Bop” (SouthCoast/Interscope) and Selena Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me.” All of those rank among the top 40 titles on the year-end Billboard Hot 100 Songs list.

Interscope claimed 16 top 10-charting hits on the weekly Hot 100 during the tracking period, including the No. 1s “Rockstar” and Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me” (Streamline/Interscope).
