Iggy Azalea’s ‘Team’ Debuts in Top 10 on Hot Rap Songs Chart

Iggy Azalea returns to Hot Rap Songs, earning a No. 8 arrival (April 9 chart) with her latest release “Team.” It marks Azalea’s ninth charting song and highest debut as a lead act, also matching her No. 8 entry in 2014 as the featured artist on T.I.’s “No Mediocre.” The entrance is her first song to chart in nearly a year — since “Trouble,” featuring Jennifer Hudson, spent five weeks on the list in April and May of 2015.

Digital downloads deliver the bulk of points counting towards its rank, with 37,000 downloads sold in the week ending March 24 (according to Nielsen Music). The first week sales are enough for a No. 2 start on the Rap Digital Songs chart.

The March 18 release of the single was accompanied by a dance video, from which the rapper is absent from, on Azalea’s Vevo on YouTube channel. The clip amassed 1.8 million domestic views during the tracking week, while Spotify also collected 1.8 million plays. (In total, the song scored 4.5 million streams for the week, and debuts at No. 20 on the Rap Streaming Songs chart.)

Over on the Billboard Hot 100, “Team” takes the Hot Shot Debut, bowing at No. 42.

‘Panda’ Power: Brooklyn native Desiigner’s breakout single, “Panda,” soars 13-4 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in its fifth charting week – earning Digital Gainer and Streaming Gainer honors (for a second straight week).

The fast growing track logs 11.1 million U.S. weekly streams (a 57 percent rise), with 48 percent stemming from YouTube views. Streams are currently coming from its official audio upload and user generated content, as an official video has yet to be released. 

Meanwhile, digital sales for “Panda” increase 40 percent, to 31,000 downloads, pushing the song 4-3 on Rap Digital Songs.

“Panda” also continues climbing at radio, hopping 24-20 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart with Greatest Gainer honors (up 50 percent in spins at the format in the week ending March 27).

The 19-year-old G.O.O.D Music signee also leaps 92-68 on the Billboard Artist 100, which measures the week’s most popular artists.

Jaheim Returns: Almost three years after his last charting album, R&B singer Jaheim bows at No. 2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with his latest set, Struggle Love, selling 15,000 copies in its opening week. It has been 15 years since his debut album, Ghetto Love, arrived at No. 2 (in 2001), since then each of Jaheim’s six subsequent studio albums have debuted in the top three. 

Meanwhile, the new set’s title track and lead single remains at its current No. 16 peak on the Adult R&B Songs chart, with a 13 percent increase in spins in its sixth charting week.

Buzz around the album release spurs a No. 79 arrival on the Billboard Artist 100 chart.
