HyunA‘s “Flower Shower” continues her reign on the Billboard charts.
The K-pop diva sends her new single to No. 6 on World Digital Song Sales with just under 1,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen Music. “Flower Shower” is the first entry for HyunA on the World Digital Songs chart in nearly two years after December 2017 single “Lip & Hip.” While two years may not seem like a long time for most Billboard-charting artists, K-pop scene essentially demands artists deliver multiple releases a year. HyunA had a particularly long stretch after leaving her longtime label home of Cube Entertainment in the fall of 2018, after revealing a relationship with another artist in the company, but eventually signed with PSY‘s newly established P NATION. “Flower Shower” is her first release under P NATION.
While HyunA is known for pop earworms like “Bubble Pop!” or “Ice Cream,” her latest plays off her experimental nature that was hinted to in past singles like “Red” and “Babe.” Ambitiously, “Flower Shower” blends confident croons, sassy raps, whistle hooks and whimsical, sing-along melodies. The accompanying music video feels like a homage to all things HyunA as the K-pop icon serves more of her innovative beauty looks (face crystals, over-the-top blushes), and delivering fashion that plays both sweet and sexy (like when she sings in a bubble bath wearing a demure white dress and pearl crown).
While she’s been a member of various girl groups and special unit groups during her time in the industry, HyunA has scored eight entries on World Digital Song Sales as her own solo artist making her first appearance with 2011’s “Bubble Pop!” which peaked at No. 10 and is still her best-selling song in the U.S. with 42,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen Music. Fast forward to 2015, her single “Roll Deep” represents her best sales week for a song when it debuted with just over 1,000 downloads sold.
