Hot 100 Chart Moves: Pitbull & Ne-Yo Leap With ‘Time of Our Lives’
The stars enter the top 40, powered in part by upward sales. Plus, moves for Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift and more.
As previously reported, Mark Ronson‘s “Uptown Funk!,” featuring Bruno Mars, rises 2-1 to crown the Billboard Hot 100. Plus, Kanye West and Paul McCartney blast in at No. 35 with “Only One,” marking McCartney’s first top 40 hit in more than 25 years and extending his span of top 40 entries, including his work with the Beatles, to more than 50 years.

Those aren’t even the chart’s only highlights. Here’s who else moves up(town) on the Hot 100 this week:
Fall Out Boy, “Centuries”
“Centuries,” the lead track from American Beauty/American Psycho, due Jan. 20, lifts 14-13 on the Hot 100. With the advance, the rockers tie the No. 13 peak of “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up),” the lead single from their last album, 2013’s Save Rock and Roll. The songs are Fall Out Boy’s highest-charting since “Thnks fr the Mmrs” reached No. 11 in 2007. That single followed the group’s top-charting hit, “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race,” which debuted and peaked at No. 2 earlier in 2007.
Pitbull & Ne-Yo, “Time of Our Lives”
The star duo soars into the Hot 100’s top 40 (46-33), as the collabo climbs 35-20 on Digital Songs with a 4 percent gain to 76,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen Music. The minor gain is actually impressive, as most songs declined sharply after logging heftier Christmas-week sales the week before. Meanwhile, the song’s video, released on Christmas Day, bounds by 147 percent to 2.1 million U.S. streams. Adding to Pitbull’s profile during the tracking week: his two-hour Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution special, which aired on Fox on New Year’s Eve.
Taylor Swift, “Style”
Buzz surrounding the likely (but not yet confirmed) next single from 1989 spurs its 12 percent gain to 56,000 downloads sold. That’s good for top Digital Gainer honors on the Hot 100 (84-71). It also nears the Pop Songs airplay chart, up by 114 percent in plays. It’s already the 10th-most-played song at WBBM (B96) Chicago (57 spins in the week ending Jan. 4).
Rae Sremmurd, “Throw Sum Mo”
Ahead of Rae Sremmurd’s expected top 10 debut on next week’s Billboard 200 with SremmLife, the track begins on the Hot 100 at No. 92. It features Nicki Minaj and Young Thug, granting Minaj her 59th chart entry. Among women, she trails only Aretha Franklin (73) and Swift (66) for the highest total. Counting all acts, the cast of Fox’s Glee leads with 207; the show’s final-season premiere airs Friday night (Jan. 9).
G-Eazy, “I Mean It”
Twenty-five-year-old rapper G-Eazy (born Gerald Gillum) makes his Hot 100 debut at No. 100 with this track featuring Remo. Fueled most heavily by streaming, it increases by 10 percent to 1.3 million U.S. streams.
