Hot 100 Chart Moves: Portugal. The Man’s ‘Feel It Still’ Hits the Top 20

Plus, moves for Lil Uzi Vert, XXXTENTACION & Katy Perry.

As previously reported, Taylor Swift‘s “Look What You Made Me Do” blasts from No. 77 (where it debuted) to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Sept. 16), following its first full week of data tracking. After its Aug. 25 release, the song soars to the top with the highest weekly streaming and sales sums for a track in 2017 and breaks the record for the most weekly streams ever for a song by a woman.

As Swift hits No. 1, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, departs the summit after a record-tying 16 weeks at No. 1; still it earns top Song of the Summer honors for 2017. Plus, Logic‘s “1-800-273-8255,” featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid, bounds 29-9 and Liam Payne becomes the third member of One Direction to notch a solo top 10, as “Strip That Down,” featuring Quavo, pushes 11-10.

Beyond all those achievements, who else makes notable Hot 100 chart moves this week?

“Shape of You,” Ed Sheeran
After spending its first 33 weeks in the Hot 100’s top 10, breaking the record for the most weeks spent in the region, the song departs the bracket, dipping from No. 9 to No. 11. Still, “Shape” (which topped the Hot 100 for 12 weeks) becomes just the seventh song to top the Adult Contemporary chart for at least 20 weeks.

The next single from Sheeran’s album ÷ (Divide) is ballad “Perfect,” which is beginning to draw adult pop radio play. “Castle on the Hill” (released alongside “Shape” in January) debuted and peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100, the same week that “Shape” entered the chart at No. 1.

Lil Uzi Vert
As his Luv Is Rage 2 launches as his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, the rapper boasts 11 songs on the Sept. 16-dated Hot 100, 10 of which debut (all from the set). Leading the way, former No. 7 Hot 100 hit “XO Tour Llif3” rebounds 25-16 as the chart’s top gainer in streaming, up 36 percent to 29 million U.S. streams in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music.

“Feel It Still,” Portugal. The Man
The alt-rock band scores its first top 20 Hot 100 hit, as the song rises 23-20. It lifts 12-11 on the Digital Song Sales chart, up 11 percent to 34,000 downloads sold, and pushes 18-15 on Radio Songs (62 million in all-format audience, up 13 percent). It leads the Alternative Songs airplay chart for an 11th week.

Similar to Lil Uzi Vert above, XXXTENTACION debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 17, which likewise sparks seven new entries on the Hot 100. Among them, “Jocelyn Flores” becomes his highest-charting Hot 100 hit, debuting at No. 31 (with 19.8 million U.S. streams).

“Swish Swish,” Katy Perry feat. Nicki Minaj
The song nets a No. 47 re-entry on the Hot 100 following the Aug. 24 release of its video, as well as Perry’s Aug. 27 hosting gig at the MTV Video Music Awards. “Swish” debuts at No. 26 on Streaming Songs with 13.3 million U.S. streams (up 162 percent) in the tracking week. It also surges by 213 percent to 10,000 sold.

Notably, as the single returns to the Hot 100 at No. 47, it ranks one spot below its No. 46 debut and peak back in June.
