Hot 100 Chart Moves: Mariah Carey Jingles Back With ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’
The song makes its annual return to the tally at No. 26 and leads the Holiday 100. Plus, moves for The Weeknd, Adele, Charlie Puth & Madi Davis.
As previously reported, Adele‘s “Hello” logs a sixth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Dec. 19), while Selena Gomez reaches the top 10 with “Same Old Love.”

Who else makes notable moves on the Hot 100?
Mariah Carey, “All I Want for Christmas Is You”
Carey’s 1994 classic re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 26 (slightly below its No. 21 peak) and remains atop the Holiday 100 chart. It’s the top seasonal song in all metrics, leading Holiday Airplay (26 million in all-format audience, up 9 percent, according to Nielsen Music), Holiday Streaming Songs (5.5 million U.S. streams, up 72 percent) and Holiday Digital Songs (29,000 downloads sold, up 67 percent). Meanwhile, parent 1994 LP Merry Christmas gains by 35 percent to 11,000 sold, while Carey reaches the Billboard Artist 100‘s top 40 (38-32) for the first time. (Older songs are eligible to appear on the Hot 100 if ranking in the top 50 and showing noteworthy gains.)
The Weeknd, “In the Night”
The Hot 100’s top artist of 2015 looks to carry his momentum into the new year, as “In the Night” enters the top 40 (54-37). The latest single from The Weeknd’s former Billboard 200 No. 1 Beauty Behind the Madness rises across-the-board, zooming 22-14 on Radio Songs (53 million, up 20 percent) and surging by 14 percent to 1.7 million U.S. streams and by 13 percent to 18,000 sold.
Adele, “When We Were Young”
Although the 25 track falls 22-69 in its second week on the Hot 100, down by 71 percent to 29,000 sold, radio is interested, even though no official second radio single from the set has been announced: the cut debuts on the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart at No. 34. Among stations in the format playing the song during the tracking week: WKRQ Cincinnati (48 spins), KLCK Seattle (32) and WWFS New York and KRSK Portland, Ore. (27 each). Plus, SiriusXM’s The Pulse played both “Young” and 25‘s “Water Under the Bridge” 20 times each last week.
Charlie Puth, “One Call Away”
The ballad bows on the Hot 100 at No. 89, led by its 34 percent jump to 1.5 million streams and 23 percent gain to 20,000 sold. Puth’s debut album Nine Track Mind (which includes his prior No. 21 hit “Marvin Gaye,” featuring Meghan Trainor) arrives Jan. 29.
Madi Davis, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”
Even though she’s since been eliminated from the current season of NBC’s The Voice, Davis debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 98 with her ethereal cover of Cyndi Lauper‘s debut No. 2 smash from 1983. It’s the fourth version of the song to reach the chart: following Lauper’s original, Lauper remade it as “Hey Now (Girls Just Want to Have Fun),” which reached No. 87 in 1995; prior to Davis’ interpretation, another TV take charted: the cast of Fox’s Glee took its version to No. 59 four years ago this week.
