Hot 100 Chart Moves: Drake Moves Closer to Lil Wayne’s Record for Most Appearances Among Soloists
Drake debuts two songs in the top 40, upping his career count to 129 Hot 100 visits. Among solo acts, only Lil Wayne has more: 132.
As previously reported, The Chainsmokers control the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Nov. 12) for an 11th week with “Closer,” featuring Halsey, rewriting the mark for the longest domination for a song in 2016, passing the 10-week reign of Drake‘s “One Dance” (featuring WizKid and Kyla). Plus, Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion McCall’s “Juju on That Beat (TZ Anthem)” surges into the top 10 (13-9).

Drake, “Fake Love” & “Sneakin’ “
The superstar rapper/singer adds to his dominant 2016, as he debuts two songs in the Hot 100’s top 40: “Fake Love,” at No. 24, and “Sneakin’,” featuring 21 Savage, at No. 38. The tracks start at Nos. 5 and 9, respectively, on the Digital Song Sales chart with 58,000 and 48,000 downloads sold in the week ending Oct. 27, according to Nielsen Music. They also bow on Streaming Songs at Nos. 28 (7.8 million U.S. streams) and 44 (6.2 million).
Drake premiered the songs (along with “Two Birds, One Stone”) Oct. 23 on Apple’s Beats 1 OVO Sound Radio and announced that they preview a project titled More Life, expected in December.
Drake ups his count to 33 Hot 100 entries in 2016, easily the most of any artist; Future and Kanye West follow with 13 apiece in that span. Now with 129 career Hot 100 appearances (in lead and featured roles), Drake moves closer to Lil Wayne‘s mark for the most among soloists all-time: 132. (Among all acts, only the cast of Glee, which featured a rotation of singers on its releases, boasts more: 207.)

The song dips from its No. 9 Hot 100 high to No. 13, but adds top Airplay Gainer honors, vaulting by 31 percent to 61 million all-format airplay impressions. On the Radio Songs chart, it zooms 27-15.
Meanwhile, as “Don’t” climbs 13-10 on Adult Pop Songs, Maroon 5 is the first act to notch 20 top 10s on the genre radio chart. Dating to the tally’s March 1996 premiere in Billboard magazine, Kelly Clarkson ranks second with 15 top 10s, followed by Goo Goo Dolls and Taylor Swift, each with 14.

The lead single from the British singer-songwriter’s second LP, Back From the Edge, bows at No. 100 on the Hot 100 with 3.7 million U.S. streams (up 23 percent). It led the Official UK Singles chart for three weeks in October.
